Thankful Entry plus some

Day 6 of being thankful....I'm thankful for good friends

We had friends over tonight for dinner (I think I mentioned this last night). I made lasagna and bread via my bread machine! Oh I love that thing! My friend made brownies for dessert. We had a great time! We were done with dinner by 7 and got out the cards and played spades. I hadn't played for 7 yrs! Chad taught me when Jordyn was first dx with leukemia and she was still in the German hospital. She'd fall asleep so we played spades! I hadn't played since then, until tonight. It was so much fun! I wasn't the best at it, and kept getting distracted and having a hard time concentrating. The boys were in and out (our living room and dining room is one great room ). For a while they were all in the playroom. Jack was extra grouchy aka very very tired, because he didn't get a nap today. Oh he was just all over the place! Anyways, they taught me how to play Spades. We spent a lot of time laughing. They're getting out of the Army in February and moving back to Florida. He's going to go to college and will be in the Active Reserves and he's planning on coming back active duty as an officer. She has said though that if she ends up pregnant before February he's not getting out! I'm rooting for the pregnancy! LOL We still have 2 yrs here and we all get along so great. I talk to her almost everyday. Before the guys came back we talked normally 4 or 5 times a day on the phone and also normally chatted online, and saw each other a few times a week too. We finally have a couple who we get along with and they're leaving. Michelle (the wife) said they've been searching/waiting for us for nearly 3 yrs and now they're leaving. :( Michelle would definately be my "best" friend as far as women goes, here. I honestly can't imagine what life will be when they leave. We plan to get together often over the next few months. I'm going to suggest every couple weeks we take turns at each other's apartments taking care of dinner, etc. They have a 13 yr old son, who the boys love. He's great about playing with them. They also have a 7 month old little girl, who LOVES her Momma, is starting to really like her Daddy, and really likes me! LOL When we go to Venice the boys will be staying with them! I know they'll be well taken care of. Michelle loves my boys and they love her!

Ok, I'm off to cuddle up by my hubby.

Oh...I'm getting a cold. My eyes are nice and itchy, my nose is all nice and stuffed up. I took some medicine so hopefully that will help. I don't like taking meds, and try not to, but sometimes I just feel the need to breath. It could actually be allergies, because my teeth are also hurting, and that's normally my cue for allergies or I have a sinus infection. I'm going to call and see if I can get in with a dr this week. We're going on vacation next week!!!

God Bless

Oh Don't forget to go and VOTE tomorrow!

Vacations are no fun when your feeling down and out. So prayers will go up for you in hopes you will be feeling better soon. Take care of you and yours and have a healthy, relaxing, quite kinda time alone with your hubby on vaca. God Bless You :o)

I hope you feel better soon - no fun being sick on vacation.  Its so great you've got such a close friend, moving to a different country/state/city without family close by is always tough but finding someone you really connect with makes things a little easier.  Take care - Leene

Hi Christy- I've been doing a little of the "what I'm thankful for" on some of the other journals.  One of the major things I'm thankful for- are families like yours, and for those who are or have served in the military.  Thank you all so much for being so selfless and courageous!  I can't imagine it's very easy for the families either.  Thank you and God Bless!!  Carolyn

Sounds like the kinds of evening I could really enjoy.....if you substituted 42 for spades.  LOL  I'm sorry it appears your special friend will be moving away.  I'll be praying God to have someone waiting in the wings to ease you loss.  Maybe there is someone out there needing you to be theirs. -  Barbara

I do love lasagna!!!!  One thing about military life is you are always surrounded by wonderful friends.  We haven't been able to make any good close friends in 4 years here in FL.  That is part of why I look forward to moving to be near my sister perhaps.  Sounds like you had a great time!!!  Wow, haven't played cards in eons.  Hugs,
Lisa

You were right!  Lots of people have been writing a lot!  I will be busy catching up on journals.  I'm glad you had fun last night or night before.  We don't have a couple we get along with so well.  Wish we did.  My best friend's hubby doesn't like my husband.  And I'm not crazy about her hubby.
